Section 4: Inclusive Culture

The aim of the work package is to develop the culture dimension indicators from the original Index for Inclusion to be used in the VET sector when developing inclusive learning environments. The indicators, with an introduction to the theme, will be included in the project’s final outcome, the tool “A Roadmap to inclusion of students with special educational needs for professionals in VET learning environments”. The development work has been coordinated by Masaryk University but the indicators were prepared in close cooperation with the local VET college. During the development process of the indicators, the draft has been piloted in all four partner countries, and translated to all four national languages of the project partners.

In the development of the culture dimension WP, the work started with drafting the first, preliminary set of indicators for the culture dimension of the tool. This work was coordinated by Masaryk University, but the work was strongly supported by the local VET college. The workshop of the WP was organized in Brno in early February 2012, and contained introduction to the theme, a visit to the VET college, a workshop where good practices related to the theme and specialist SEN provision in VET were mapped, and further development of the indicator list.

After the workshop, the indicator list of the culture dimension were translated to national languages and tested in the participating VET colleges. The results of this were reported back to the WP leader (i.e. Masaryk University), and Masaryk together with the VET college revised the English version of the indicator list according to the comments received.

In addition, Masaryk will write an introduction to the indicator list of the dimension for the Roadmap. The WP report (see below) contains a self-assessment section on the development work done.

The working days are allocated as follows: JAMK 11; Northampton 10; Masaryk 42; Uni Tartu 10; KVI 6; OCVC 6; F.C. Roosevelta 10 and Tartu VEC 6
