Section 5: Inclusive Practices

The aim of this work package is to develop the practices dimension indicators from the original Index for Inclusion to be used in the VET sector when developing inclusive learning environments. The indicators, with an introduction to the theme, will be included in the project’s final outcome, the tool “A Roadmap to inclusion of students with special educational needs for professionals in VET learning environments”.

The development work was coordinated by the University of Northampton in close cooperation with OCVC, the English VET college. During the development process of the indicators, the draft was piloted in all four partner countries, and translated to all four national languages of the project partners.

The Inclusive Practices WP started with drafting the first, preliminary set of indicators for the practices dimension of the tool. This work was coordinated by the University of Northampton with support from OCVC. The workshop of the WP was organised in Northampton in June 2012, and contained an introduction to the theme, a visit to the VET college, a workshop where good practices related to the theme of increasing accessibility for learners with SEN in VET will be mapped, and further development of the indicator list.

After the workshop, the indicators of the practices dimension were be translated to national languages and tested in the participating VET colleges. The experiences were reported back to the WP leader (i.e. the University of Northampton), and the university together with OCVC will revise the English version of the indicator list according to the comments received.

In addition, the University of Northampton will write an introduction to the indicator list of the dimension for the Roadmap. The WP report of the workshop at Northampton (see below).
